Hello everyone. This post is not a recap of the first part of the challenge but it is about the last week! It all started on Mothers Day this week. While we didn’t do much on Mothers Day as far as exercise, but we were ready to hit it hard on Monday. You know, there is a debate over when the week starts and ends, in our family we tend to use Sunday as the end of the week. But the calendar says the week starts on Sunday.
Monday we got started with exercise again. We are still eating pretty well, even if we slacked on our vegetable and fruit consumption. We have had to figure out a different budget that lets us have more money available to keep fresh fruits and veggies around. Monday and Tuesday we were a little short on fresh stuff, but we were able to stock up again on Wednesday. As I sit here writing this on Monday morning, we are almost out of fresh stuff again! We have eaten a bag of apples, a bag of pears, a bunch of bananas and most of a case of oranges. Not to mention the broccoli, and spinach. We try to keep some good veggies in the freezer as well, but we like the fresh stuff.
We also did pretty good keeping with our 10000 step goals. Brenda made the whole week, I came close, but didn’t quite make it on Wednesday.
Saturday was our big activity day. I ended up with over 19000 steps that day. Brenda and I are Scout leaders, and we had an activity on Saturday morning, a cookout. From hauling gear to sawing and chopping wood, and all of the supervising, we got a lot of activity in. and if that wasn’t enough, after we came home and did chores, we went to the park.
One of the parks by us has a huge area to do several different things. It is where we go to play kuub, tennis and now baseball. The community diamonds are open if there is not a game, so we went and had some batting practice and ran the bases a few times. We were not playing an actual game or anything, but just hitting a few and running. That was one of the best cardio workouts I have done for this challenge, because it was more fun. Nothing like cracking a baseball and running the bases with no defense trying to get you out. The kids got to shag all of the balls from the outfield before they ran the bases. We all had a good time. Later Brenda and Amelia took Tristan to the playground and played tennis until it got dark.
All in all, this week was pretty good, we didn’t go as hard as we probably should have, but we are still more active than we have been in a long time, and are eating really well. Next week will be a bit interesting, with Amelias Birthday on Thursday, to see just how good we can eat with a 10 year old planning her dinner menu.
Until then…..
