Hello again!  We are back with more updates from the My Heart Challenge!  Eventually, I will be posting each week, but for now, I am going to catch up with what we have done over the past couple of weeks.  From our last post, we started the challenge on the 14th of April.

During this challenge, there are several classes that we will be attending that cover everything from exercise to nutrition to some overall change classes.  We attended the first of these on the 19th.

It was the creating change class, that had some good tips on how to get our minds ready to change habits and lifestyle, as well as be good parents during this change.  It was very informative.

It was good for us, but we had already started changing!  We took the kids bowling on the 18th.  Brenda and I have not been bowling for years, and Amelia and Tristan had never been.  They had fun just learning how to get the ball down the alley.  We went to a place that had bumpers that would raise for the younger kids, and retract for the older ones.  It all proved quite a challenge for everyone, and more of a workout than we were expecting.  That happens when you swing all of that weight for a couple of hours.  We bowled 2 full games and part of a third before we were finished.

The kids liked bowling so much, that they were very excited to go to Brenda’s work party, at another bowling alley on the 2nd of May.  It looks like this will be one of our regular activities!

Over this challenge, one of the things we have decided to make sure that we do is to get our 10,000 steps in every day.  Brenda and I have been using our fitbits for a while now but haven’t worked very hard at getting the 10,000, but now, we are making sure that we are walking enough to get all of our steps in each day.  The kids are now in on the fun as well.  We have ordered them some fitbit type trackers that they can wear and make sure they are getting an appropriate number of steps each day.  They should be here soon, even though we were worried about them not coming in from China until after the challenge was over!  They should be here on the 10th or so.

We have also been going to the park, around the rain, and playing either tennis, or just on the playground equipment.  The kids have gotten quite a kick out of that.  It will be nice when the weather is better and we can go outside more.

Even with the weather not cooperating, we still have been doing more activity.  We have been over to our church playing basketball and jumping rope.

The next post will be more about some of the other changes that we have been doing!
